There is a rule in the art system that says opportunity equals opportunity. According to this logic, participation in one project becomes a point of credibility for a later project somewhere else. Involvement becomes constant self-promotion focused on future potential. At the same time, a retrospective view often marks artistic activity as certain meanings of an artwork only come to light with a delay, when time provides the space for (re)contextualisation. The exhibition by Pita Project offers a reflection on the entwinement of individual projects in the broader context of art practice, examining their interplay with bureaucratic and promotional demands.
The first rendition of fake it till you make it is an advertising poster which the artists used in 2023 to announce their subsequent exhibition. This time, the exhibiting and advertising functions of the piece are even more inextricable. On the first poster of the TAM-TAM Street Gallery, the artists promote their current exhibition, that is, the work advertises itself. Then they gradually extend the subject of advertising to the practice of Pita Project and their concurrent exhibition at Nova Gorica City Gallery, thus highlighting the relationship between the otherwise separate projects.
Pita Project (2019) consists of artists Nina Goropečnik and Rea Vogrinčič. The platform is dedicated to the exploration of their own practice, through which they take on various roles within the art system. They are particularly interested in the support mechanisms and systems that are necessary for the realisation of exhibitions. The project has been presented at various exhibitions in Slovenia and abroad. In 2024, it was featured in ETC. Magazine, and in 2023, it was nominated for the OHO Young Visual Artist Award. During the 2019/2020 period, it brought the artists the ALUO Award.

For 2025, the TAM-TAM Street Gallery exhibitions are prepared by the participants of the 20th generation of the World of Art, School for Curatorial Practices and Critical Writing (SCCA-Ljubljana). The school’s programme is developed in partnership with Cukrarna/MGML and with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia and the Municipality of Ljubljana.
