SCCA-Ljubljana on Videolectures.net

SCCA-Ljubljana is now also present at Videolectures.net web portal, featuring two of our multifaceted programs, World od Art and DIVA Station. Four video documents of lectures dealing with curatorial practices of contemporary art research, archiving video and new media art have been published in 2010 and you can expect many more in the future.

World of art presents a lecture by Maria Hlavajova, artistic director of BAK, basis voor actuele kunst, Utrecht, who outlined the ways in which art institutions can serve as a public arena of criticism and dialogue. Furthermore Joa Ljungberg, curator from Mälmö and Edi Muka, artist and curator from Tirana, presented various curatorial strategies and tactics as well as different nature of institutions in Sweden and Albania.

DIVA Station hosted two international lecturers in the frame of seminar How to connect contents of AV archives? in October 2010. Stephen Kovats, media theorist, reflected in his lecture Under the Radar: Deciphering Cultural Process on the importance and possibilities of the audiovisual archives to capture not only the physical presence of a particular art work but also its cultural essence within which the work was created. On the other hand, Dalibor Martinis, transmedia artist, advocates his Data Recovery 1974-2009 series as a procedure of partial recovery of lost data from the memory without the context, following three principles: 1) Configuration instead of confabulation; 2) The present instead of historisation and 3) Diachronic principle instead of chronology.
