SCCA-Ljubljana in cooperation with Udarnik Cinema and Zavod Uho;oko presents monthly projections of artistic opus from DIVA Station Archive in the frameworks of Audiovisual / Time: Time Horizons of Audiovisual Arts. In Udarnik Cinema we are presenting documentary films and video works of longer format that are formally, typologically, contextually and in content suitable for presentation in cinematographic format.
The 2011 series of projections was launched by a presentation of artistic opus by a video artist and film director Jasna Hribernik on March 24 (projection and discussion). We will continue a selection on May 26 with a film A Concert for Mobile Phones and an Orchestra (2005) and with a documentary film When a Ball Hit Our Heads – The Portrait Of Milko Djurovski (2000).

Jasna Hribernik (Maribor, 1959) is known to the broader public as a film director. She studied film and television directing at the Academy for Theatre, Radio, Film, and Television in Ljubljana, and she also attended a two year course of documentary directing at the Discovery Campus Master School in Munich. She lives in Ljubljana where she works as an independent film director and creator of video films, video installations, and other multimedia works. She is often also signed as the cameraman and film editor. Since 1985 she has created numerous original documentary films that were screened and awarded internationally. She directed over 40 videos about art and artists, she collaborates with theatre, dance performers and opera houses.

DIVA Station is an internet and physical archive of video art, developed by SCCA-Ljubljana from 2005 with the purpose of researching, documenting and archiving video and media art. In Udarnik Cinema we are preparing a series of screenings by individual artists, focusing on certain themes and typology of video works, especially video film and documentary video genre. We will present genuine audio-visual production by local artists, accompanied by discussions with the artists themselves.

Udarnik is a newly established independent center for cultural production, offering quality alternative to the predominant pop-culture production and opens up to numerous local and international artists. A broad specter of various cultural events is connecting different art forms that enables emergence of completely new ideas and works. Udarnik aims at connecting independent culture in Maribor and bringing new cultural contents to the local surroundings while bringing creative ideas closer to the needs of the public.
