Edvin Dobrilović is an artist who has been working in frame of the Autonomous Cultural Centre Metelkova City in Ljubljana already since 1995. Although a painter by education, his practice is very diverse in terms of both, formal art genres as well as the techniques he applies. Following a present focus of Studio 6 – a framework of his present exhibition – which is the modus operandi and work process of the invited artists, the opening will offer a special demonstration of his process of work. Exactly the work process – from the idea to the realisation of an art piece – is something usually still lacking in discussions and is often overlooked also among professionals. On the other hand, it is by nature considered a hidden part of artist's practice. Edvin Dobrilović will let us take a quick peek into his artistic process.
Edvin Dobrilović, from the series Symbols in Offence and Theatrically surrealistically, 2012
Edvin Dobrilović often works on a specific theme for a longer period; he develops it and is coming back to it over and over again. Hence, we will exhibit four of his series: Symbols in Offence, Theatrically Surrealistically, Sayings and Proverbs, Collage in Package. First three series are completely new, produced specially for this exhibition and yet unseen!
