Marija Mojca Pungerčar, Socialdress - Power Cloth (Introduction), December 20, 2012, RogLab, Ljubljana
Marija Mojca Pungerčar, Artservis’ editor, is developing the program Socialdress since 2006.
The author uses the term “social dress” for clothing that has an integrative effect in terms of community. The Socialdress workshops spread knowledge about clothes making, at the same time reinforcing awareness about the consequences of globalization to the Slovenian textile industry, and about the gradual disappearance of craft skills.
Socialdress workshops offer experience on transforming sewing into entertaining and useful social activity. There is no need to have previous sewing backgrounds. The sewing workshops are designed for beginners. The workshops are professionally guided by Marija Mojca Pungerčar with the help of assistants. The goal is to finish the creations. A special embroidered Socialdress label is sewn into every finished item. The workshops are photographed and video documented. At workshops are provided basic sewing tool: a sewing machine, pins, scissors, treads, ribbons, etc.
Due to the great interest of the workshop Power Cloth, an additional workshop will be organised on Thursday, March 7, 2013 form 4pm till 7 pm in RogLab on Petkovškovo nabrežje in Ljubljana.
