Saša Nabergoj on LOCIS seminar
Lecture and conversation session

Friday 28th and Saturday 29th November 2014
The Dock, Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim, Ireland

We would like to inform you about the participation of our co-worker Saša Nabergoj at the international seminar LOCIS in Ireland.

Chaired by critic and lecturer Declan Long, the seminar on Saturday features: Natalia Cieślak; Dobrila Denegri; Sarah Kim; Joanne Laws; Audrey Keane; Sam Moore; Saša Nabergoj; Seamus Nolan; Joanna Sandell; Anik See; Dominic Stevens; Johan Thurfjell; and Aleksandra Wasilkowska.

Locis

LOCIS is a collaborative artist in residence programme funded under the EU Culture Programme between Leitrim County Council Arts Office; the Centre of Contemporary Art in Torun, Poland; and Residence Botkyrka, Sweden. Locis was designed to provide knowledge, resources and opportunities for artists to engage internationally and to reinforce the principle that a vibrant arts practice should, and can, be maintained from anywhere and that networking across borders can occur from anywhere and with anyone.

The two-year LOCIS programme concludes at the end of November with a seminar on Saturday 29th which looks at the wider context of international collaboration and artists residencies with that. On the Friday evening there will be a tour of the exhibition LOCAL by the five artists participating in the 2014 residency in Ireland and a talk about the historical context which underpins the work.

In her lecture on Saturday 29th November 2014 Saša Nabergoj will reflect on her research into different forms and dynamics in artist residencies and on On-Air artists' resource website and a European tool for artists. The On-Air has has two goals: to overcome the imbalance between knowledge and skills among potential users of AiR programs and to exchange intelligence among providers of AiR programs, on how to distribute facts and value of AiR opportunities among potential users, in such a way that it fits the regional needs of the artists.

On Saturday 29th November 2014 Saša Nabergoj will be taking part in the In Conversation sessions also. For the In Conversation sessions, delegates have the opportunity to discuss topics of interest with speakers in smaller groups enabling each delegate to engage in genuine debate on issues of interest/concern to them. Delegates can take part in three of a five short sessions as follows: Room 1 - Audrey Keane / Room 2 - Saša Nabergoj & Anik See / Room 3 - Dominic Stevens & Aleksandra Wasilkowska / Room 4 - Seamus Nolan & Johan Thurfjell / Room 5 - Dobrila Denegri & Joanna Sandell (Locis Curators in Poland and Sweden)
