Focus on the Proximity Effect Exhibition
by SCCA-Ljubljana

The exhibition Proximity Effect was handpicked by Tina Kaplar, editor in chief of Art Guide East, amongst Top 10 Exhibitions in CEE for monthly overview on #viennacontemporaryMag of the most interesting exhibitions across Eastern Europe in March 2016.

Proximity Effect, on view in Ljubljana Vžigalica Gallery (MGML) from March to May 2006, featured video works by Zemira Alajbegović, Neven Korda/Borghesia, Marko Peljhan, Sašo Podgoršek & Iztok Kovač, Nataša Prosenc Stearns, and Miha Vipotnik.

The exhibition gave an innovative answer to the question of how can we present video works in a physical space of a gallery in order to follow a curatorial concept researching the relationship between space and video and simultaneously provide the chosen videos with an adequate setting that would efficiently address their contents.

If you have missed the exhibition, you can enjoy a half-an-hour video tour with the curator Nika Grabar and get a picture of this innovative exhibition even though the talk is in Slovene (for now). The show was produced by Aljoša Abrahamsberg for his regular internet TV program Sodobna umetnost TV (Contemporary Art TV).

More on the exhibition (curatorial text, works, artists, photos from the exhibition…)
